Summertown welcome host of like minded organisations to take part in Green in Action evening
Event: Monday 13th December
Venue: Summertown Interiors Showroom, Dubai
Since the opening of Summertown's LEED Gold Certified showroom in 2009, Summertown Interiors has been encouraging other like minded organizations to realize the benefits of going green when it comes to interiors. With the recent growth in the number of green buildings in the region, it only makes sense to ensure that the interior fit out is also green. However many organizations have been slow to realize the benefits. On 13th December, Summertown opened its doors to demonstrate how taking a few small measures can really lead to saving money on operating costs, aswell as being kinder to the environment.
Samer Rashid and Mary Elias introduced the ways in which organizations can assess the cost benefits of going green, and revealed the steps taken by Summertown to achieve their environmental goal of LEED Gold certification. The Summertown team then showed the guests around the facility highlighting particular measures taken and answered questions.
Heidi Demunyck, Sales Director for Summertown Interiors commented ‘it’s very encouraging to see how the level of interest in the past year or so has really changed. Going green is no longer just a buzz word. Organisations are really starting to take it seriously, and the feedback from our guests highlighted that in their experience, they were noticing the same trend.’
Martin Day, Chair of the British Embassy Green Committee attended the event. ‘It was very valuable to hear about Summertown’s efforts to reduce their carbon foot print and pick up some practical tips that we might be able to implement. It’s always inspiring to hear what others are doing and be challenged to do more yourself!'
