Summertown Interiors has moved into LEED Gold compliant Interiors

Summertown Interiors OFFICIAL showroom/headquarters opening took place last month with a prestigious ribbon cutting ceremony.
The arena is now open to be viewed by potential clients and green conscious businesses alike who can witness the benefits of a LEED Gold-compliant real working environment with employees busy in their departments.
Overcoming Challenges - Being a leader means that you are one of the FIRST few to experience the journey as there is nobody else to follow. However Summertown’s passion and determination for our own project only strengthened as we moved forward. The greatest challenge was to design within set LEED and budget parameters while maintaining the functionality of the interiors and without compromising on the look and feel of the office. The second part, working with the interior designers and project team to execute the office interior fit-out in terms of finding suppliers and sourcing materials that adhere to the strict LEED specifications such as location (needed to be within a 500 km radius from the project to qualify as acceptable to the LEED rating system). When it comes to locally manufactured products in this region, it is very difficult to find sustainable products.
The new premises optimize energy and water usage. This is achieved by using energy and water efficient fixtures to reduce electricity and water consumption, a central building management control system; usage of environmentally friendly furniture, products and materials with high recycle content; reduced energy consumption through sensor-controlled lights; star-rated energy electrical equipment; indoor CO2 monitors; water usage reduction through sensor based systems and waste segregation for recycling. As a result, our new facility not only uses 50% less energy, 32% less water and diverts over 90% of its waste from the landfill compared with a conventional building, but also provides a transparent, seamless, healthy and inspiring workplace where people enjoy working.
