Summertown completes AXA ahead of schedule

Over the summer we completed a couple of projects such as ADSIC and the successful insurance company AXA, made famous by their little red cars driving around town!
To meet the demands of AXA’s clients, AXA needed to turn a 650 sq meter area into an efficient and multifunctional call centre.
Summertown were requested to design, fit-out and furnish the area which also included a meeting room, prayer room, storage, toilets and a pantry.
Summertown successfully overcame many challenges such as:
- Making this relatively small space comfortable to fit over 100 staff
- Constant changes in the teams’ structure; although it is a call centre there are different departmentalized teams and it was critical to ensure that the teams were grouped together appropriately and efficiently and positioned productively
- The area was originally designed as a food court resulting in Summertown having to make numerous modifications such as moving large industrial Air Handling Units in order to reduce the noise in the area
- Modifications, such as re-routing, had to be made to the plumbing and drainage lines in conjunction with DOZ, TECOM & Zoning Authority
- Toilets had to be switched from male to female to accommodate the majority of the female staff
Ahrend furniture was used primarily, as it met all of AXA’s requirements for ergonomics and flexibility; especially with Ahrend’s multifunctional tables and chairs, which are adaptable and changeable according to employees’ height and body type, thus improving productivity and efficiency.
Summertown thoroughly enjoyed working with an extremely well organized client and engaged fully with the client as a partner, finding the optimum solution within budget. A call centre was created allowing open communication between employees as well as providing them with their own personal space and comfort. The end result is an industrial look with a warm modern feel, whilst still reflecting the client’s corporate branding.
Summertown excelled yet again by finishing this project AHEAD of schedule and our team had a fun day being treated by AXA to a fun afternoon lunch as a ‘thank you’ treat!
