Summertown sets committment to go green by 2020

As leaders in fit out interior solutions and dedicated followers of green practices, Summertown has introduced a Green Committee to spearhead the company’s objective of becoming carbon neutral by 2020.

An internal association of company employees, the Summertown Green Committee has created a plan that addresses Summertown’s social responsibility whist staying true to financial realities and objectives.  The strategy focuses on 5 core pillars – People, Clients, Suppliers, Operations and Measurement – and a series of objectives have been engineered following each of these pillars that will enable Summertown to put a number of environmental policies into action.

The Green Committee is an incredibly important initiative for the company in order to consistently advocate a greener workplace amongst staff.  Companies have in the past embraced the ideology of adopting greener business practices however the reality has seen companies only 'talk the walk', and not 'walk the talk'.

‘Our plan embraces our culture and passion and gives responsibility to every employee within the organisation to adopt greener practices within their own work environment.  The key thing for companies to realise is that you don’t become green overnight, and you don’t need to plough huge investment into your organisation to achieve being more environmentally friendly.   It’s a trait that you need to develop as a company culture in order to succeed’ says Marcos Bish, Managing Director and Chairman of the Green Committee.
