Project Overview
Creating A Multifunctional Call Centre Out Of A Shell
AXA Insurance needed to turn their new empty premises into an efficient multi-functional call centre. Summertown Interiors enthusiastically stepped up to the challenge undertaking this complex project on a complete turnkey fit-out basis, engaging fully with the client, finding the optimum solution within budget and completing the interiors on schedule.
Summertown successfully overcame many challenges in order to fulfil AXA’s requirements. Firstly, the layout needed to accommodate over 100 staff, with each departmentalized team having to be grouped together and positioned in a productive seating arrangement for optimum employee performance.
Amenities such as meeting rooms, a prayer room, storage areas, employee restrooms, and a pantry had to be incorporated and as the original design of the space was for a food court, the Summertown team had to make numerous modifications some of which included:
• Moving large industrial air conditioning units in order to reduce the noise in the office areas
• Re-routing the plumbing and drainage lines in conjunction with DOZ, TECOM & Zoning Authority
• The restrooms had to be restructured to accommodate the mainly female staff
The furniture used had to meet AXA's requirements for ergonomics and flexibility and furniture from Ahrend met this criteria; providing multi-functional tables and chairs that could be configured according to employees height and size, promoting productivity and efficiency.
The end result was a multi-functional call centre with an industrial look yet warm modern feel, while still reflecting AXA’s corporate branding, allowing open communication between employees as well as providing them with their own personal space and comfort.
