Maritime specialists open doors to new Middle East office in record time
Kongsberg deliver systems for dynamic positioning and navigation, marine automation, cargo management, training simulators and position reference systems. Hailing from Norway, Kongsberg sought Summertown’s expertise as a total interiors solution to deliver a project that would reflect a strong European heritage and the modern, transparent and open culture that Kongsberg embraces.
The client required three specific areas to be created within the space to define their core operations; executive area, training facilities and engineering spaces were created within the 800 m2 - each having very diverse specifications that needed to be met to ensure maritime industry standards were reflected, as well as Kongsberg’s own high corporate standards.
The existing ceiling was utilized where possible, however to enhance key areas special lighting solutions were created in designated locations such as the reception area and in meeting rooms. A mix of closed private meeting areas and open plan work areas were created, each meeting area carefully designed to provide a different look and feel to reflect the diverse nature of Kongsberg’s business culture and employees – with a high-table breakout area, formal training facility and open meeting areas.
The open nature of the office space created various exit/entrance points which had to include security card access and CCTV fitting.
The procurement schedule managed by Summertown was very impressive – whilst timelines were incredibly tight, only high end, high quality materials would be approved by the client which all had to be sourced. The execution of the project meant that much of the works had to be completed in tandem to ensure the overall project lead time could be delivered. This took an amazing amount of co-ordination and organization by the Summertown team.
The project was turned around in record time, and in just 35 days Summertown achieved a clean, modern office environment within budget encompassing all of the client’s requirements.
