Project Description

The Change Initiative is the first sustainable store in the Middle East and welcomes both retail and business visitors to its store. The store features a number of solutions encompassing various ecological initiatives covering 5 key areas; energy, water, waste, food and lifestyle. The store also houses its own organic restaurant and coffee shop.

Leading interior architect HOK was selected by The Change Initiative to design the project based on their extensive experience in the sustainable architecture field. The interior design features of the project highlight how the reuse of existing materials, recycled products, and rapidly renewable materials can be implemented extensively, creating a completely environmentally friendly interior that encompasses commercial offices, a public interactive environment, retail store and F & B offering.

The Change Initiative interiors is LEED Platinum certified by the USGBC – achieving the highest number of credits for a building in the Middle East region. HOK won the prestigious Commercial Interior Design award for ‘Sustainable Project of the Year 2012’ for the project.
